Abstract

The misery index is one of the key indicators of the results, its increase is a sign of inflationary stagnation that can affect people's well-being and impose economic and social costs and reduce the performance of governments. This research tries to estimate and compare the relationship between the components of the knowledge-based economy on the poverty index of selected developing and developed countries using the panel method with random effects and fixed effects during the period of 1996-2016. The results show that in the selected developing countries, the components of education and skills, innovation and invention have a negative and significant relationship with the poverty index, while the component of information and communication technology has a positive and significant relationship, and the component of the institutional regime and economic structure has a negative relationship with the poverty index. There is a distress index, but it is not significant. In selected developed countries, the component of education and skill, institutional regime, and economic structure have a negative and significant relationship with the poverty index, while the component of innovation and invention and information and communication technology have a negative and positive relationship with the poverty index, but it is not significant.
