Abstract

National unity has been a guarantee of the survival of every society and country ever since. The aim of many politicians, the media and ... is to strengthen the spirit of national unity among citizens. There are numerous factors involved in the formation or destruction of national unity; factors such as the existence of language, flag, race, ethnicity, religion, shared memory and so on are among the factors that underpin national unity. In the meantime, attention to ethical characteristics as an important factor in the creation of national unity has not been much considered. The main purpose of this study is to examine national unity with regard to such factors as individual beliefs, the trust, interest in motherland, past experiences, patriotism, and so on. This study was conducted using DEMATEL model and Pearson correlation test in SPSS and Excel with 82 population. The results indicate that the most important ethical component is the basis for establishing and maintaining the unity of individual beliefs at 4.357. And according to the Spearman correlation method, there is a significant (SIG = 0.017) and positive (Correlation coefficient = 0.595) relationship between the variable of moral characteristics and national unity. Finally, suggestions were made for this research.
