Abstract

In order to policy and plan for the development of regions with a focus on local potentials and constraints, the concept of a regional development center has been considered in recent decades. Given the importance of addressing this issue in the Islamic Republic of Iran, this research intends to provide a scientific resource to develop regional development centers by the comparative study of regional development centers and extracting their practical and functional dimensions. In order to achieve this goal, the regional development centers have been addressed from different perspectives such as mission, goals and tasks, initiatives, etc. Also, in order to provide a comprehensive view of the concepts related to the Regional Innovation Center, a text-mining algorithm called word cloud has been used to review the related studies. According to the research results, networking and communication with a focus on local and indigenous institutions, learning and transfer of indigenous knowledge, and technology development and innovation, are the distinguishing features of regional development innovation centers compared to other centers that are active in the field of regional development.
